when did you start making greeting cards? I started making cards about 11 years ago (for my son's first birthday party!).

when did you start selling them? I made cards that I sold in a little coffee shop in Colorado Springs when I lived there...probably 10 years ago. They were MUCH different than the cards we sell today. I'd be embarassed to show them to you! But, they sold pretty well...the owners of the shop were nice enough to not ask for a commission, and I was able to keep the meager earnings from each llittle sale!

what do you like about making cards? I love paper and type (I'm a bit of a font-geek). I also really love the creative process that my business partner and I go through to put out a new product. She and I both have a different skill set, and when we come up with a new illustration or design we get into this flow that is really cool (don't know a different way to describe it!)

have you done any craft shows? Yes. Our first craft show with Zuzu's Petals was 3 or so years ago. We hoped that we would a LEAST be able to cover the cost of the $200 show...Well, we were absolutely swamped, with a crowd around our table, and people waiting to see our book! It was incredible! The problem was, that we had decided (before the show) to offer free local delivery. We failed to realize just how big our town of 40,000 people is. Our poor husbands were nice enough to help us by filling their cars with little pink bags full of notecards and dropping them off at doorsteps late at night.

what is your best seller? Our pink gerber daisy notepad has been our best seller for a while...but it is being passed up by the dotty shoe.
