At what sge did you offically become a crafter?
I have always liked crafts, but really started refining my sewing at age 25.
What got you into youre craft? I began sewing because I wanted to make blankets and burp cloths for my daughter. My Mom and I would be sitting in the middle of a restaurant having lunch after a full morning of shopping for items to decorate the nursery, just exhausted and disappointed in our empty trunk. My Mom is also a licensed Interior Decorator, so it was frustrating for her especially. And I studied Child Development in College and did not want the typical pastel nursery because it is not stimulating to a developing baby brain. While we discussed what it was we were trying to find, it occurred to us to just make it ourselves - my Mom is also an accomplished sewer and has made numerous quilts, clothes, drapes, pillows and the like. "Wouldn't this be fun to do as a business?" - I asked. It was really too bad we did not start it right then, but I had a decent job, and so did my Mom, and it was left up in the air. Fast forward 3 years, and I am laid off from that job and my sister had gotten laid off as well. Now was the best time to start our business! Tamera had just made a dog bed for her new puppy, and I was again pregnant with my second daughter...more inspirations! And off we all went to the fabric store to find brighter, colorful, whimsical, stylish (a little retro), and high quality textiles to make our ideas come to fruition.
Its craft show season are you going to be at any ? We are definitly going to be in the Austin Juior League's Christmas Affair in November and have many more in the works!
what are youre favorite materials to work with? I love these new cotton retro inspired prints and mixing them with new, modern textured fabrics such as the Poly-plush minky chenille.
