when did you start making crafts?
I have always been an artist, I have a degree in Fine Arts (Painting and Printmaking) from Virginia Commonwealth University , and I am currently an elementary art teacher. I was a caricature artist, painter for a popular folk artist, and mural artist, during and between schooling, and all but burned out by the time I finished. I had pretty much stopped painting all together. I gradually began to find a voice through crafting, that was really satifying to me. When I had my son, 2 1/2 years ago, it really took off. Sewing, knitting, stichery, paper crafts, jewelry, ceramics, all feed my creative urge. My life is not condusive to keeping a painting studio. And it's no longer something I strive for. Crafting, something I would have scoffed at just years ago, now provides me with a multitude of media to explore.
Do you listen to music when you craft? I love silence. It's meditative.
when did you open youre shop ? I opened shop so to speak at the 17th Street Farmer's market in April of 2004, where I am a regular vendor during the market season. I opened an etsy store this summer, and am opening my website next month.
what is youre signture colors? green and purple
if you made $1000 in sales in one day what would you do ? Celebrate with an expensive diner out, buy lots more fabric, hire someone to cut patterns for me, buy a new couch, and seriously consider moving so I could actually have room to work!
