1. at what age did you become a crafter?

I was always a very creative person:I started painting very young and at the age of 12, I learned to crochet. At 24, I started to create my own jewelry and it became my favourite hobby;my jewelry being so popular amongs my friend and family, I decided to offert it to a larger public and thus, Rose Flash was born in 2005.

2.what's one thing you like about having a online store?

Being able to work from home until I open my workshop.

3.Do you go nuts at craft store and do you end up broke after wards?

It has happened in the past! That's why I always bring a list of things to buy AND someone telling me to stick to it!

4.so you design your site?

Yes and I also took all of the pictures. Having a College diploma in graphic design and a Bacchelor's degree in art really helped me design all of the look of my buisness!

5. have you done any craft shops that rocked !

There are a lot of online Indie designers shops that rock! My top favorite 6 are: Pink Loves Brown, Yatta, On a Friday, Madame Fancy Pants, Mamie Originals and Kelly Meeker Designs. In the Montreal area, there is this fabulous place called "Le Marché de Montréal" wich is a underground Indie Market where I met very talented artists: Heidi Martens from Homebaked fashions creates hip skirts and dresses and Krista Sofranko from Astrik who creates whimsical and trendy jewelry.

6.who is your biggest fan?

My Fiancé. His constant moral support and his web skills has helped me trough this whole venture. This sounds cliché, but I coudn't have done it without him and I find myself very lucky to have found him.

7.where did you come up with your name ?

I have worked in summer camps for 6 years now and Rose Flash was my camp nickname. The tought of owning my jewelry buisness emerged two years ago while I was working in my summer camp. So Rose Flash is me!

8.do you have a mascot?

No, but I do have a black cat named Tokyo which daily steals what ever glittering thing it can find! So I regularly stumble upon his secret hidding tresure places when I do some cleanup.

9.what time of the year are you really busy?

Having opened buisness for less than a year, it's a bit hard for me to answer that. The Holidays have been quite busy and hopefully, there will be other busy times!

10.where do you see yourself in say 10 years from now?

Hopefully, I will own my Brick & Mortar workshop-boutique and be a sucessful buisness woman.

11. what do you think of the diy movement?

I think it's fabulously gaining in popularity! Being able to express yourself trough your lifestyle is very important to me: creating your environment enables it of your spirit and your personnality, giving it more importance and giving you a sense of accomplishment! It's a very different experience compared at buying the lifeless manufactured goods. Also, making someting yourself or buying something indie is doing awareness consumption: some of the big super chain stores produce there marchandise in countries where the labor conditions are inhuman. Buying Indie, or doing it yourself helps, in my opinion, to encourage local craft and Fair Trade.
