when did you start selling online? i began selling my jewelry designs in july of 2005, at www.queenthings.etsy.com

how did you get into making jewelry? well, i think there were some (very) humble beginnings with making my own necklaces in high school out of what things i could find in my jewelry box, i always had messes on my bedroom floor like brushes, paint, sketchbooks. breaking apart the things that i no longer liked to wear and recreate something new was my way of having my own style. but jewelry for me then was just all for fun. what i always set out to do was make a career out of painting, and many other mediums in art distracted me along the way. so now i feel a sense of relief to be able to focus on designing jewelry with my art background merging in the process, supporting my ideas as i tell a story with each collection.

what inspires you? architecture, art history, fashion, good good music, travel, bookstores, robert henri, minerva teichert, robert rauschenberg, david hockney, wayne thiebaud...if i begin listing artists i will never end! that's the thing about inspirations, they are like a kaleidescope of knowledge, they ebb and flow. changing to move me in various stages of my life.

what are your favorite colors? various hues of blues and greens, pale, subtle, feminine, calm and delicate. colors derived from nature are my favorite.

what do you think of indie shop interviews? i love to read them because they give such a valuable glimpse into other's artist's lives, their routines, their impressions, what moves them. fascinating! i'm also so grateful for all the awesome friends i have made along the way from the online community, the internet surprises me with it's wonderful ability to filter through millions of faces to bring you to like-minded, kindred spirits.
