1how did you come up with youre name?
I love to watch historically inspired movies like Dangerous Beauty or Elizabeth. I have always admired their fantastic costumes and jewels. One day, searching for an outlet for my artistic nature, I thought ... I can try to make something like that. And the rest is history. My style has evolved a lot from those early endeavors, but the spirit of how I design remains the same. I chose my name to reflect those bejeweled, elegant times -- Jeweled Elegance.
2 do you design youre web site?
Yes, I worked hard to expand my web skills to match my vision of what I'd like my store to be. It probably didn't hurt to have a B.S. in Art/Design, although it was hard to narrow all my dreams and visions down to one choice! Even today, I am constantly thinking of ways I would love to revamp and improve my site.
3 when did you open shop?
I began making unique artsy jewelry for friends and family and then offering it at a brick & morter gallery. It sold! And I'd never been happier! After a few years of this, I decided to take it on-line and opened my first on-line boutique last October.
4 have you done any craft shows?
I have done a few craft shows and learned something new at each one. One pearl of wisdom is: when at an outdoor craft show and it's raining, never assume your tent doesn't have holes! Luckily, some strategically placed masking tape saved the day. I derive as much joy from helping customers find that perfect accessory or gift as I do from making new friends with all the other crafty vendors.
5 if you made $1000 in a week in sales what would you do?
Go to a bead show and buy the most glorious lampworked beads that I could find -- you know, the ones that you drool over but can never justify buying? After this shopping binge, I'd love to treat my family to a celebratory evening out -- a gourmet dinner and divine desserts!
