1 how did you come up with youre shops name? when my mom was pregnant with me, each of my parent's paternal grandmothers fought over what my name should me. one argued that it should me isabel after her. the other thought that jane was respectable and "cute." luckily my parents chickened out at the last minute and named me meghan, after the heroine of the book my dad was reading at the time. growing up, i always thought of izzy jane as my ultra hip, alterego. and so from there izzy jane designs was born.

2 how kong have you been a crafter? does from inside the womb count? my entire existence. my mom was a flourist and my dad a computer nerd from before it was cool. there was always something to put together or take apart and redesign.

i also blame it on growning up in south louisiana. every year we were forced to put together shoebox mardi gras floats. one can only win using barbie once and then you've got to get creative.

3 when did you start youre online shop? i've always sold pieces here and there as people would comment on what i was wearing. but it wasn't until a few months ago that i decided to face the unknown and put myself out there. of course, things are slow in the beginning but i've been pleasantly suprised so far.

4 whats the meaning of indie to you? someone willing to set out the box. to everyone that is different. my box might not be as narrow as someone else's but the same is true in reverse. when indie stopped meaning someone who is independant of the norm, and became a fashion trend, it was disappointing. a true oxymoron.

5 what crafty person would you like to meet? wow this is a hard one. at first i want to say martha. i have a love-hate thing for her but i'm still slightly addicted, but is to en vogue to love to hate her. really, in all honesty, i just want to meet as many crafty people as i can. i love to learn from everyone. what works, what doesn't. i think it would help me be a better "indie crafter." and if that includes martha and most of the incredible people on hgtv, so be it.
