1. when did you become a crafter?
I think I must have been born a crafter! I have always loved all types of arts and crafts, including water colors, acrylics, colored pencils, charcoals, pastels, regular sketches, photography, scrap-booking, pottery, fiber arts, and of course jewelry design!
2. what age demographic do you sell the most to
My dad recently visited one of my craft shows and noticed that my jewelry seemed to attract two main groups: younger girls (teens – twentysomethings) and older “business-types.” I think it is pretty cool to be able to make jewelry that can appeal to not only a daughter, but her mother, as well.
3. whats the hardest part about promting youre biz
The hardest part of promoting my business is definitely doing the “cold call” to potential vendors, publications, etc. Whether it is face-to-face, over the phone, or via email, it is always a bit scary to approach someone who has never met you before to see if they would be interested in your jewelry.
4. what do you like about having a online store?
I think my online store is key for me, because many of my designs are one-offs, so it is not really practical for me to have a printed catalog with my inventory constantly changing. Plus, it is awesome to be able to point someone who is interested in my jewelry to my web site so they can see a variety of my designs, and navigate through them at their own pace.
5. D Celestine Limited is all about trendy jewelry with underlying tones of classic femininity for women who like to treat themselves and those they care about. My design philosophy is: “Although my designs are influenced by the latest trends, I try to incorporate a certain sense of classic beauty to give my jewelry a timeless style.” With D Celestine Limited, there is always a new way to treat yourself!
