.Why robots? Robots are fun to draw! I like the old-fashioned style of robots, but I wanted to create something a little simpler and warmer. Boris is refreshing alternative to the sleek robots that are usually trying to take over the world. Hopefully, Boris will become everyone’s favorite robot friend.

.When did you start your online gig? WHiRR originally began as BitterBots sometime in mid-2004, I was just casually designing and selling a few cards. The full store launched in February 2005 and the name was changed in May or June 2005.

.Do you design your web site? Yeah. My skills are pretty basic, but I like to be as hands-on as possible with all aspects of WHiRR.

.How would you describe your shop? That’s something I’ve been struggling with since I began. Most of my products are paper goods, but I’m slowly broadening my inventory. In addition to the cards and stationery, I also make magnets, switchplate covers, wine/martini charms, and earrings (not yet available). Everything is either handmade or at least packaged by me. The heavy duty printing gets outsourced, but I’m the one boxing up the cards and sticking on labels. Ultimately, WHiRR is a gift shop for robot enthusiasts.

.What are your signature colors? My signature colors are light blue and cobalt. Even though I make the effort to incorporate different colors, it always manages to surface in my wardrobe, home décor, and even my robots.
