At what age did you start crafting? Twospace is a two person team [hence the name Twospace], of Christine Haynes and Kent Bell. Christine: I started sewing as a small child. Both my mother and her mother sewed. They used to make clothes for me, as we didn't have much money growing up. But that aside, I wanted to remain cool and up with the latest trends. So they made replicas of the latest styles for me, and my barbies! Kent: I began making art as a small child. Both my mother and my father are from traditional Appalachian families, so it is natural for everyone of all ages to make things by hand, using textiles, wood, paint, or anything around the house. It wasn’t until I went to art school in my twenties, however, that I fully appreciated the level of care, skill and critical thought required to elevate crafting to the level of fine art.

What is it that you sell? Twospace sells women's clothing, and men's and women's jewelry. The clothing line consists of dresses, tops, hoodies, and skirts. All are designed to be comfortable and easy to wear, while still looking hip and sexy. The jewelry line is more edgy, using leather, stainless steel, and plastics to create wrist cuffs, chokers, rings, neck pieces, and earrings. You can see some of it at our site at Twospace.com.

As far as demographics go what age group do you sell to the most ? Our demographic is 18-45 year old men and women. With probably a 80% women, and 20% men clientele. Our lines stay connected with youth culture, but can also be worn to work.

Have you done any craft shows/fairs? We have spent the last year and a half attending shows across the country. Our favorites being Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn and Chicago, Indie Craft Experience in Atlanta, and the Thread Show in San Diego. This year we will still do some of those events, but are also moving into the Trade Show arena, and focusing on wholesale accounts, and fewer direct to consumer events.

where in the world is youre shop located ? Twospace started in Chicago, and was moved almost 2 years ago to Venice, California. Los Angeles has a tremendous support network for designers and the apparel industry. All our items are made here in Los Angeles.
